was blessed with the opportunity to spend a week playing shows in the french west indies island of saint-barthélemy this month…one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever experienced. the gigs were at the restaurant la plage in the tom beach hotel…here’s a few photos

hello friends.

back in amsterdam, last night of the trip…totally beat!

had a wonderful time in scotland.  met some amazing friends, the other folks who won the burnsong-organized song competition… we stayed together in a farm in dumfries at a  workshop, writing a lot, playing all night and enjoying each other’s company.

we played a show on st. andrew’s day at the scottish parliament in edinburgh (you can hear the broadcast on bbc’s ian anderson show), which was a really cool experience as well.

also got to explore the van gogh museum this morning in amsterdam (or, as they say, stichting nieuwe vleugel van goghmuseum), which was  breathtaking. been looking forward to that for so long…what a moving collection.

having quite a time in bonnie scotland - workshopping with the wonderful folks from burnsong, doing a lot of writing.  playing at scottish parliament on the 30th…thrilled about that.  in the mean time, we’re down in the rural south…here’s the backyard:

wandering in to amsterdam alone on a sunday morning at 5:30 am is an interesting time to be introduced to the city; saturday night’s still staggering out the door, it reveals quite a dark side to the night life.

when i left the airport, i had 7 hours, some google maps screenshots, and a bunch of destinations to check out, no idea where i was going - and though things were a bit skeevy before sunrise, i ended up having a wonderful, leisurely, explorative day.  when the sun came out, it shone on a beautiful city, remarkably organized, with kind people from around the world, fascinating architecture, and rich cultural history.  what a delight.

(my only regret is not accounting for the long line at the van gogh museum - thank goodness i have an afternoon next week for that! can’t wait…)

over the next week i’ll be at a songwriting workshop in rual southwestern scotland, then playing a festival at parliament in edinburgh…absolutely thrilled. i’ll be back over the next few days with some new updates…  hope all is well.
